Stimulators and Growth Regulators

Medax Top

Medax® Top is a plant growth regulator developed by BASF, used to reduce the height of cereal crops, helping to control lodging and protect yield. It is approved for use in winter wheat, winter barley, and winter triticale. Details

Description

Composition:

  • Mepiquat chloride: 300 g/L
  • Prohexadione-calcium: 50 g/L

Mode of Action:
Medax® Top works by inhibiting gibberellin synthesis, which are plant hormones responsible for stem elongation. This inhibition results in shorter, sturdier stems, reducing the risk of lodging. Additionally, the product stimulates root system development, improving plant anchorage and nutrient uptake.

Usage Instructions:

  • Target Crops: Winter wheat, winter barley, winter triticale.
  • Application Timing: From the beginning of stem elongation (BBCH 30) until the full emergence of the flag leaf (BBCH 39).
  • Recommended Dose: 1.5 liters of Medax® Top per hectare, diluted in at least 200 liters of water.

Important Considerations:

  • Stress Conditions: Do not apply Medax® Top to crops suffering from stress caused by waterlogging, drought, or other environmental conditions.
  • Weather Conditions: Avoid application if frost is expected immediately before or after spraying.
  • Compatibility: Before mixing with other products, perform a compatibility test.
  • Safety: Wear appropriate protective equipment when handling and applying the product.
