Stimulators and Growth Regulators

Brevis

Brevis® is a plant growth regulator developed by ADAMA, designed for chemical fruit thinning in apple and pear orchards. The active ingredient in Brevis® is metamitron at a concentration of 150 g/kg (15% w/w), formulated as water-soluble granules. Details

Description

Mode of Action:
Brevis® temporarily inhibits photosynthesis, which leads to the thinning of small and underdeveloped fruits. This allows the remaining fruits to grow better, improving overall fruit size and quality.

Usage Instructions:

  • Target Crops: Apples and pears.
  • Recommended Dose: 1.1 – 2.2 kg/ha, depending on variety vigor and growing conditions.
  • Application Timing:
    • Apply when the average size of the central fruit is 8-10 mm in apples and 12 mm in pears.
    • If necessary, a second application can be made five days after the first, when the central fruit size is between 12 and 14 mm, but not exceeding 16 mm.
  • Application Method: Foliar spraying with a water volume of 400 - 1000 L/ha to ensure uniform plant coverage.

Important Considerations:

  • Weather Conditions: The efficacy of Brevis® may vary based on weather conditions (especially sunlight intensity) before, during, and after application. Cloudy weather and high nighttime temperatures (>10°C) in the week before and after application may enhance the thinning effect.
  • Plant Stress: Avoid applying Brevis® if plants are under stress (e.g., damage from hail, strong winds, drought), as the thinning effect could be undesirable.
  • Compatibility:
    • The use of summer oils, adjuvants, oil-based crop protection products (e.g., penthiopyrad), SDHI fungicides, and other treatments may increase the thinning effect of Brevis®.
    • If another crop protection product needs to be applied within five days before or after Brevis®, consult a crop protection specialist.
