RAK 3+4

RAK 3+4 is a pheromone-based pest control system used to combat codling moth (Cydia pomonella) and summer fruit tortrix (Adoxophyes orana) in apple, pear, and cherry orchards. Details

Description

Active Ingredients:

  • 3.82% E8,E10-dodecadienol
  • 4.1% Z-11-tetradecenyl acetate
  • 1.9% n-tetradecyl acetate

Mode of Action:

  • RAK 3+4 works by continuously releasing pheromones into the atmosphere, disrupting the chemical communication between adult moths and preventing them from mating. This mating disruption method significantly reduces pest populations and, consequently, the damage to crops.

Usage and Recommended Dosage:

  • Target Crops: Apple, pear, cherry
  • Controlled Pests: Codling moth (Cydia pomonella) and summer fruit tortrix (Adoxophyes orana)
  • Recommended Dosage: 500 product units per hectare
  • Application Timing: Devices should be placed in the orchard at least one week before the start of the first generation of adult moth flights. Installation must be completed before the flight begins to ensure maximum effectiveness.

Advantages:

  • High Efficiency: RAK 3+4 provides effective control of target pests throughout the season, regardless of weather conditions.
  • Easy to Use: The devices are simple to install in the orchard, requiring only 500 dispensers per hectare.
  • No Residues: The use of pheromones leaves no chemical residues in fruits, ensuring a safe final product for consumption.

Recommendations:

  • Uniform Distribution: Dispensers must be evenly distributed in the orchard to ensure homogeneous pheromone release.
  • Edge Reinforcement: A higher density of dispensers is recommended at orchard edges to prevent moth entry from adjacent areas.
  • Constant Monitoring: Even with RAK 3+4, regular monitoring of pest populations is essential to assess effectiveness and decide on any additional measures.

Pre-Harvest Interval:

  • No waiting period is required as the product leaves no residues in fruits.
